Acan, Beon (Aching, Being)
moving image
Old English verbs acan (to ache), and the continuous form of to be.
This piece comes from discussions with people affected by chronic pain, and my own reflections on pain. These individual experiences are given empirical form: in gross growths; in the disembodied shots. Solitary in the silent space of the film, their existence flickers.
Special thanks to Birdie Cashill, Cain Butler, Carmel-Deirde (CD) Humphreys and Hannah Murphy.
